HOCKING COLLEGE ENERGY INSTITUTE, LOGAN, OHIO

SERVICES PROVIDED FOR THIS PROJECT (2008):

Site Planning, Complete Civil Engineering Services, Site Grading, Site Dimension Plan, Storm Sewers, Erosion Control, Surveying Services

This project is located adjacent to the Logan Hocking Industrial Park in the city of Logan, Ohio. The Hocking Energy Institute project grew out of the College's desire to be at the forefront of various types of alternative energy technologies including wind, solar, hydrogen fuel cells, and others. Spearheaded by Dr. Jerry Hutton, the project has taken shape over the past 18 months and has gained support of prominent State and Federal funding agencies eager to be part of this forward thinking and unique facility.

The building and site will employ many environmental features although the College has decided not to seek full LEED accreditation due to timing and budget constraints. This 12,0000 square foot facility is the first phase of at least 3 phases at this facility. Future phases will likely involve significant private investment from companies wishing to collaborate with the Hocking Energy Institute on the development of emerging technologies and the technicians that will be needed to operate, maintain, inspect and repair these new energy sources.

The project is moving toward an opening date of July 2009.

OHIO 4H CENTER AT THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY, COLUMBUS, OH

SERVICES PROVIDED FOR THIS PROJECT (2008):

Complete Civil Engineering, Storm Sewer, Erosion Control Plan, Water Line

This site is located west of Fred Taylor Drive and the Schottenstein Center on the campus of The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. The site is about 6 acres and was occupied by an old 2 story building. The site has several large specimen trees of value that must be presesrved. The plan includes the associated driveways, sidewalks and parking lots.  The project was designed using non-traditional methods and materials, and meets the objectives of the LEED program (Leadersip in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System (tm), a voluntay, concensus-based national standard for developing high performance, sustainable buildings. Members of the U.S. Green Building Council representing all segments of the building industry developed LEED and continue to contribute to its evolution.

A sanitary sewer main crosses the site at the location where the new building is to be constructed, so this sewer must be maintained, and the fill over the sewer must be removed and replaced with compacted granular fill to provide suitable bearing for the foundations. A water main will be constructed from the back (west) side of the Schottenstein Center to the new facility.

This project was designed in conjunction with Lincoln Street Studio Architects and Monks and Associates for the Mechanical, Electrical and Lighting design.

OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY MARION CAMPUS 220 CAR PARKING LOT

SERVICES PROVIDED FOR THIS PROJECT (2003):

Complete Civil Engineering, Site Grading, Site Dimension Plan, Storm Sewer, Erosion Control Plan

A new parking lot is to be constructed to the east of existing parking lot #3 at the OSU Marion Campus. The project provides parking with lighting for approximately 220 cars. Existing lighting is to be removed from Parking Lot #1 and will be re-used for this proposed parking lot. Drainage for the new parking lot is to be accomplished via sheet flow if possible. Coordination and cooperation with the new Student Services Building Project is essential and required for the success of this project. The new parking lot was placed into service mid-September 2003.

This project was designed in conjunction with Schorr and Associates Architects and Roger D. Fields and Associates for the Electrical and Lighting design.
