SERVICES PERFORMED FOR THIS PROJECT:
The Ohio Reformatory for Women's existing parking areas, which are used by the 480 staff members of the facility were undersized and deteriorating. Sands Decker CPS provided surveying services, detailed design for removal of the existing parking lot and construction of a new 500-car lot. Our services also included alternate recommendations and cost estimates for various levels of pavement resurfacing as well as complete removal and replacement for a portion of the facility's interior drive. The design of this project had to be coordinated with the design of the facility's new entrance drives and sallyport being designed by another consultant.
Sands Decker CPS completed the construction drawing phase of the project. Our electrical sub-consultant, Roger D. Fields & Associates, provided new high-mast lighting design services. We were on schedule and within budget. Sands Decker CPS acted as the Prime Consultant on this State of Ohio Funded and Locally Administered Project. This is an excellent example of our ability to provide our engineering and surveying services and coordinate the aspects of a State project. We displayed our flexibility on this project by providing several design options and construction cost estimates prior to detailed design. Services provided by Sands Decker CPS include bid document preparation and construction administration. This project also displays our ability to smoothly coordinate with Roger D. Fields & Associates, our Mechanical / Electrical Sub-Consultant.
SERVICES PROVIDED FOR THIS PROJECT:
Cowan Lake State Park offers a peaceful setting complete with scenic inlets laden with the American Lotus Water Lily. Swimming, fishing, sailing and canoeing are popular on the lake. Meandering trails through mature woodlands compliment the natural features of this scenic park. The Cowan Lake Dam Valve Replacement project consisted of replacing a leaking valve in the water elevation control structure. Upon visiting the site, it became evident that the platform inside the control structure would also need to be replaced. Sands Decker CPS took measurements of key components of the structure and prepared plans, specifications and cost estimates for replacement of the valve and work platform. Research needed to be performed in order for the new valve to match the existing bolt pattern for the pipe penetrating the structure, otherwise extensive work would need to be done. A new valve stem and handwheel was also designed and specified in order to enable operation from the top of the structure. Completion of the Design and Specifications was accomplished in time for construction to occur during the winter "low water level" period.
SERVICES PROVIDED FOR THIS PROJECT:Complete Civil Engineering, Surveying, Site Dimension Plan, Site Grading, Storm SewersLocated on the east side of Cambridge, Ohio, the Guernsey County Public Library provides 13,000 to 15,000 square feet of space for a full-service library, including an attached garage for the bookmobile. Sands Decker CPS provided complete civil engineering services from Design Development to Construction Documents, including site dimension plan, site grading plan, storm sewers and erosion and sediment control. The site was nearly level but presented unique design problems due to poor soil conditions and flood plain issues. Due to poorly consolidated soils, it was necessary to specify Deep Dynamic Compaction of the building pad and surrounding area.
CAMBRIDGE MUNICIPAL BUILDING
SERVICES PROVIDED FOR THIS PROJECT: Complete Civil/Site Engineering, Surveying, Parking, Site Dimension Plan, Site Grading, Storm Sewers The Cambridge Municipal Court Building project consisted of a new 18,000 square foot court building located on a site occupied by an old elementary school. Sands Decker CPS was the Civil Design consultant on this locally funded project, and also provided surveying. Located in downtown Cambridge, Ohio, the Cambridge Municipal Court Building wil provide 18,000 s.f. of space for operations, offices, holding areas and court rooms for the municipal court judges and staff. The site was previosly an elementary school, which was demolished after our initial survey, requiring us to re-survey a portion of the site to provide accurate documents for bidding purposes. Due to funding shortfalls within the City government, the project is not currently scheduled for construction. Sands Decker CPS provided complete civil engineering and surveying services for the project including schematic design drawings, design development drawings and construction drawings, including site dimension plan, site grading plan, storm sewers, storm water retention, sanitary sewers, waterlines, public access roads, private access roads, parking lots and erosion and sediment control plans.
COLUMBUS FIRE TRAINING ACADEMY SERVICES PROVIDED FOR THIS PROJECT: Complete Civil Engineering, Surveying, Site Demolition, Site Planning, Stormwater Management This 25.2 acre site is located in southern Columbus at 3639 Parsons Avenue and is currently occupied by the existing training complex and administration building and parking. This project includes construction of 7 new structures including a Practical Skills Building, Training Tower and Burn Building. A 1500' sanitary sewer extension as well as a domestic water service extension and a fire loop to feed 13 on site hydrants are also included. Stormwater management includes the creation of a wet dentention basin which will be utilized by the Academy as a drafting pond during training exercises.
O.D.O.T. GROVE CITY SALT STORAGE FACILITY SERVICES PROVIDED FOR THIS PROJECT: Topographic Survey and Site Civil Engineering The Grove City Salt Storage Facility project allowed Sands Decker CPS to provide intensive construction phase assistance. Sands Decker CPS provided all Surveying and Civil Engineering. The construction documents included site grading plan, site dimensional plan, site utilities plan, storm water system design including a temporary sediment and detention basin and calculations, and an erosion control plan. In addition to our design services, Sands Decker CPS prepared construction specifications and construction administration services. The extremely flat site and the lack of a deep storm water outlet created grading and drainage challenges which were met by maximizing use of the existing drainage system and sheet flow drainage to a designed ditch which discharged directly into the stormwater basin. Project cost constraints required us to adjust the proposed pavement limits to attempt to achieve a specific construction cost.
